Tokyo Disney Resort April 2025
During my most recent Japan trip in April 2025, I visited DisneySea for the first time since Fantasy Springs opened. Lucky enough I happened to pick the perfect time to visit as Fantasy Springs removed entry restrictions to all the rides at the beginning of the month, enabling visitors to freely visit the land and its attractions.
As compared to my previous visit in December 2022, I was able to achieve significantly more in the day thanks to the various services on the official app, including Disney Premier Access which was only added to Journey to the Center of the Earth and Tower of Terror shortly after my 2022 visit, as well as the 40th Anniversary Priority Pass which started around Summer 2023.
The crowds during my visit (April 22nd) were large but not too unbearable. I joined the queue at around 7:15 and was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't too far back in line as compared to past visits. However, given that it was an off-peak day, it also meant that the security checks and park opening were later than my previous visits at 8:45 and 9:00 respectively, which meant I was waiting outside the park for nearly 2 hours. In comparison, I was able to get in by 8:30 the last time. Nevertheless, since I was still relatively early to arrive, I was able to clear the line very quickly once it did start moving, and was in the park just minutes after 9:00.
Along with almost every other park guest, I did the brisk walk towards Fantasy Springs to enjoy my first attraction of the day. During the walk I also booked my first Priority Pass for Raging Spirits (9:20 - 10:20), as well as DPA for Frozen (10:40 - 11:40).
Rapunzel's Lantern Festival (20 mins)
I arrived at Rapunzel at 9:16 with a posted wait time of 20 minutes, which turned out to be a very accurate estimate. I'm glad I did this first as I didn't feel like I would have wanted to wait much longer for this ride. As with nearly every online review, I also agree that the lantern scene was beautifully done, but nothing too memorable other than that.
Raging Spirits (5 mins with Priority Pass)
I have varying feelings towards this ride, being underwhelmed my first try in Dec 2016, then enjoying it more in Dec 2022. This time, it was meh again, especially compared to the more visually-impressive and immersive dark rides across the park.
Indiana Jones Adventure x4 (10 mins with Priority Pass / 0-40 mins with Single Rider)
Given the proximity to Raging Spirits I did an early morning ride which was nearly a walk-on with the Single Rider line. I think as of now I'd rank this as my favourite ride in the park. By the time I was eligible to obtain another Priority Pass, I got one for this with a return time 13:20 - 14:20.
Meanwhile, in the early evening the Single Rider line was massive, probably costing me a good 40 minutes in line. Nevertheless I returned with just a few minutes to spare before park closing to enjoy yet another walk-on with Single Rider, thus clocking a total of 4 rides in the day.
Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey (10-15 mins with DPA)
With Fantasy Springs restrictions fully lifted, this has become the most popular ride in the park (or on par with Soaring), so I was glad I managed to snag a DPA with a fairly early return time when I just got into the park. Without a doubt, the ride overall is visually stunning, and quite a long experience, which is perfect for Frozen fans. The animatronics and various visual effects are impressive, coupled with a few fun tiny forward and backward drops.
That being said, I did not leave as impressed as my first time on Beauty and the Beast over in Disneyland. Maybe it was partly that sitting nearer to the back of the 4x4 boat meant that I did not get a full unobstructed view of everything, while I got quite lucky with getting front row seats on several other rides that day. In contrast, the trackless and spinning nature of Beauty and the Beast along with the wide seating layout meant that you won't really be blocked at all. Or maybe I just like the songs of Beauty and the Beast more.
Journey to the Center of the Earth (10 mins with DPA)
This was my first ever ride at the Tokyo Disney Resort and I remember enjoying it quite a lot, with a great dark ride section and surprisingly fun thrill element. Meanwhile, returning in Dec 2022, I endured a 70 minute line and did not really feel like it was worth that long of a wait, and it felt less thrilling than I remembered. This time, I booked the DPA without hesitation as the wait times were hovering at over 100 minutes for most of the day. The DPA brings you straight to the elevators that transports you to the ride platform, meaning that it was a short 10 minute wait. Expectations are really the key, and knowing the fast section isn't that long after all, I did enjoy the ride more this time.
Tower of Terror x3 (15 mins with DPA / 40-50 mins Standby)
This was my favourite ride from my first visit in 2016, and this time I gladly got the DPA when the posted wait was at 60 minutes. I also returned for a couple more rides in the late afternoon when the lines subsided slightly. It is surely fun riding with first-timers who don't know what to expect or a car with everyone cheering or screaming during the drops. A short but fun and thrilling experience, with only about 3 drops in total. I do hope to be able to visit when they are running the extended drop sequence Tower of Terror Level 13 (usually during winter months).
Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure x2 (10 mins with DPA / 20 mins Standby end-of-day)
Very enjoyable ride using a very similar technology to Transformers and Spider-Man at Universal Studios, but the screens blend quite well with some of the physical sets too. I also re-rode it at around 20:30 when the line was significantly shorter.
Sindbad's Storybook Voyage
The first time I rode this in 2016, I dozed off. This time, I was really able to appreciate the soundtrack and impressive animatronics much more. It's essentially DisneySea's version of It's a Small World but with a nicer theme song, and usually has barely a line. A good ride to rest your legs from all the walking and a theme song that maybe serves as a good lullaby for a quick shut-eye. The guy in front of me was sleeping for most of the ride.
Caravan Carousel
Another ride I did because there was hardly a line.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (5 mins with Priority Pass)
My 3rd and final Priority Pass experience was another enjoyable one. I think this time I went in with tempered expectations that most Disney rides are non-thrilling and more to marvel at Disney's amazing animatronics game. This was one of those rides where it was a chill yet immersive ride experience like you were exploring the deep ocean. Skipping a 30-40 minute line was also perfect.
